Gilded Lilies

It is hard to tell in this picture,  but the entire surface of this cake has a silver shimmer.  The bottom layer was devil’s food with fresh raspberries and strawberries.  The middle tier is vanilla butter cake with the same fresh berries.  

 

Pretty Pink Flowers

A  butter cake with cream cheese frosting and three shades of pink fondant accompanied by 25 cupcakes with fondant blossoms.

Tickled Pink

The mother of the bride was so sweet and happy for her daughter,  that she, along with the cake, was just tickled pink.  The feminine confection was a Meyer lemon cake filled with lemon curd and Swiss meringue butter cream all wrapped up with white, light, and dark pink fondant. 

 

Barnyard Birthday

The grand parents in my neighborhood are keeping me busy.  They come up with the funnest ideas for me to try.  This one was for a four year old little girls’ cowgirl party.  Her grandparents used to own four horses and so their likenesses were on the side of the cake.  I learned the difference betwwen and a sorrel and bay and had lots of fun making this cake.  The cake itself was two double layer cakes stacked ontop of each other, with the top layer being carved into the “barn” shape.  It was a french vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.

 

Shhh! Sleeping baby cake!

Baby showers are fun.  This one was done a couple years ago but I just found the pictures.  It was for a shower at the law firm Dave used to work for.  The cake is covered in pink fondant, with stars and moon also out of fondant.  This is when having an array of cookie cutters comes in handy.  The baby was shaped by hand and her little blankie was cut with a scalloped pastry cutter.

 

Erins’ pink purse

I love the chance to do anything girlie,  having 2 boys (and one more on the way)  it doesn’t happen too often.  My neighbors’ little girl turned 3 a few monthes ago and they let me make her cake.  It was so fun!  Thanks for the pics!  (It was while we were waiting for a broken camera to get fixed)
